Dragon Breath. A wall of dissonant overtones, china like wash and endless sustain, yet every stick stroke remains clearly defined.

This early UFIP Solid Ride weighs 2528g and is an example of Italian Rotocasting. Roberto Spizzichino produced early prototypes for the Solid Ride line and this cymbal captures some of that same philosophy. It is not perfect, polite or controlled. Its strength lies precisely in the beauty of its imperfections.

This is one of those cymbals that reveals its identity within a few strokes. Complex, fierce and full of character, it produces a china like wash without ever being trashy. Despite the pronounced dissonant soundscape, stick definition remains intact.

The heavily hammered umbrella shaped profile creates a long, orchestral decay. As a ride it delivers projection, personality and a voice that stands apart from modern production cymbals. Crashed, it opens up easily and produces an enormous sound with endless sustain.

Players looking for a subtle companion for piano trio work will probably choose something else. In big band, funk, fusion, latin and progressive settings, this UFIP comes alive.

The surface beautifully displays the characteristic Rotocasting structure and deep hammering that define these early UFIP models.
