This pretty awesome Fender American Acoustasonic Jazzmaster has been killing it for a couple of years now and has been go to for single guitar fly gigs. I play rock music and for multiple songs in the set I had previously used acoustics split between a DI and then a sound hole pickup going through a tube amp. When I started to read the frankly awful reviews about the Acoustasonics I realized that it was the perfect fit for me. I'm not playing concert halls where the acoustic sounds need to be pristine. I'm not playing the kind of music where I need to "find my tone". I'm playing the kind of music that just needs to get a crowd going and does it in the most convenient package possible! However, there is no compromise... the "Rosewood Auditorium" (Middle) setting sounds great, and lifted through a tubescreamer? It ALWAYS gets compliments. For weeks after I first got it, even the band were raising eyebrows as we were searching for the right acoustic/overdrive/amp combination. The "Fender Fat/Semi clean" setting gives an incredible roar through Spark/TS9/AC15 and met all my needs. I use open tunings and this guitar covered 80% of our sets.
This one ended up on the sell list because I have an opportunity to purchase my dream acoustic and I'm going to find ways to split the set using other guitars. I'm quite happy with that sacrifice, although I KNOW I'll miss good old Huntsburger (Because he does everything easily? It's a Gilmore Girls reference!).
It is in EXCELLENT condition. But yes, I did have my tech make me this pick-guard (I wanted the vibe) and it is screwed in. It has not changed the tones or functionality. If you don't want the cool looking pick-guard (Or you have wonderful, preferable ideas of your own), then this is not the guitar for you. There is of course, light pick wear on the guard. Every show I have at least one person that comes up to ask me about this guitar, and having heard it in context, they love its tone.
It comes with the original Fender gig bag. It comes with a charger - I upgraded to a 6ft charging cable and fast plug, because I can't fathom those dinky little 3ft, light duty things that I kept tripping over in my studio! Ooh, I forgot to add, I have two sets of Stringjoy 11/52 that I'll include.
If you want to read reviews, try to see past the snobbishness, or the so called experts. See what the guys that ACTUALLY use them are saying. For me, it was the perfect fit for opening tunings in a rock band, with a super wide range of tone, through an effects board and any one of my Fender Bassbreaker, AC15, or Vintage Club 30 amps
