Darwin Drums USA 20/10/12/14/16" Maple Drum Set - 90's Gloss Maple

Here's an uncommon set of Darwin USA drums! These are sized 16x20", 8x10", 8x12", 14x14", and 16x16" finished in gloss natural maple. These drums are in excellent shape save for a couple notable cosmetic blemishes on the 10" and 20" bass drum, plus a smaller one on the 12". Both blemishes on the toms face the player, and the blemishes in the bass drum are smaller from the toms making contact. I've captured these in our photos as best I can.

Darwin drums was around for a very brief period of time in the mid-90's after Corder drums, and before them Fibes. Austin-era Fibes returned again not long after Corder's sale to Darwin. The sliding tom mount that DW would soon adopt originated with Corder's patent and is on this set - unfortunately the original double tom mount is not present, but a modern DW fits it with a slight slimming modification and is included. Heads are lightly used Evans G2's on the batter sides and G1 clears on the resonant side, while the bass drum has a Strata 100 batter with a ported coated ambassador resonant side.

Here's an interesting excerpt from the drummerworld forum detailing the shells Darwin used. This set has 6-ply toms and a 7 or 8 ply bass drum.

"We had both Keller and Jasper shells in stock when the company became Darwin. When shell supply became low, I decided to mix the two for a kit. The experiment became the standard for our custom line. Keller and Jasper shells were both re-ordered. Snares were available in either Jasper or Keller. Toms were available only in Jasper. Bass drums were only available in Keller. The intent was to make a highbred set that had the best attributes of both DW and Gretsch."
