Up for sale is a genuine 1972 Guild D-55 (serial number 70096), one of Guild’s flagship rosewood dreadnoughts from the golden era of Westerly, Rhode Island production. This guitar has the look and feel of a true vintage instrument — 50+ years of honest wear, character marks, and the kind of aging that collectors seek out.diamondguitars+1

Condition:
This D-55 shows age-appropriate wear consistent with its 1972 build — weather checking (finish checking), handling marks, and general patina throughout that give it real vintage charm. The tuning pegs show light surface rust, again typical for a guitar of this age. There are no top cracks, no back/side cracks, and no structural repairs. Please study the photos closely for exact condition details before purchasing.reverb+1

Repair notes (full transparency):

  • The neck heel and strap pin area has been rebound with new binding material.
  • The neck binding has two spliced sections where new binding was joined in during past repair work.
Both repairs are cosmetic only — the neck joint and body structure are original and solid. The guitar has never had a neck reset, and there are no top cracks or bridge reglue. It plays straight and stable with comfortable action.studio-m-repair
