Up for sale is a rare, remarkably well-preserved 1960s Admira Dolores classical guitar. Hand-built during the golden era of Spanish workshop manufacturing in Zarautz, Spain, by Enrique Keller S.A. This model blurs the lines between a traditional classical and a flamenca blanca study instrument.

This specific example stands out for its striking flamed sycamore (sicómoro) back and sides - which is a light-colored hardwood belonging to the maple family - paired with a fine-grained spruce top aged into a warm golden patina. The dense, highly figured tonewood gives this instrument a bright, articulate voice with snappy projection and classic Spanish warmth.

It features a pronounced, horizontal fiddleback flame/tiger stripe curl across both back panels. This figure gives the wood a distinctive three-dimensional shimmer when light catches it at different angles.

About:

What sets this specific example apart is its stunning flamed sycamore (sicómoro) back and sides, displaying a deep, horizontal tiger-stripe figure rarely seen on entry or mid-tier vintage instruments. Combined with decades of natural wood aging, it produces a clear, articulate voice with immediate note attack and rich acoustic resonance.

Tonal Impact of Sycamore/Maple Sides & Back:

  • Bright, Articulate Voice: Sycamore is denser and stiffer than mahogany or sapelli, providing a snappy attack, clear note separation, and strong upper-midrange projection.
  • Flamenco Flavor: This wood combination (Spruce top paired with Sycamore back/sides) mimics the traditional flamenca blanca tonewood configuration, giving the instrument a percussive response with faster note decay than typical rosewood classicals.

Specs:

  • Top Wood: Select European Spruce featuring tight, uniform grain lines and a warm, golden-amber vintage patina
  • Back & Sides: Flamed Sycamore (Sicómoro) / Maple. Provides bright upper-midrange bite and percussive projection
  • Neck: Solid African Mahogany with a traditional deep "D" profile, finished in high gloss
  • Fretboard: Dark Rosewood with smooth fret ends and clean fretwire
  • Bridge: Dark Rosewood tie-block bridge with a slotted bone saddle and clean white trim
  • Rosette: Traditional Spanish geometric mosaic inlay in red, black, gold, and green motifs
  • Hardware: Original gold-plated lyre machine heads with acrylic buttons
  • Binding: Dark body binding with a dark center purfling stripe running down the two-piece flamed back
  • Strings: D'Addario EJ27N Normal Tension
