Highly rigid outlet box made of PBT-GF30 material
The Oyaide Outlet Box is the heart of sound. The housing is made of PBT-GF30, a highly rigid engineering plastic made from polybutylene terephthalate (TPA) with 30% GF (glass fiber) added. PBT resin is a polyester resin obtained by polycondensation of terephthalic acid (TPA) and 1,4-butanediol (1,4-BG). It is a crystalline engineering plastic with excellent moldability, electrical properties, flame retardancy, chemical resistance, heat aging resistance, weather resistance, and colorability. The addition of glass fiber (GF) reinforces this material, resulting in tensile strength and Charpy impact strength more than double that of conventional materials, and a DTUL (Deflection Temperature Under Load) of 200°C, more than three times that of non-GF materials (50-85°C), providing superior dimensional stability at high temperatures. This high rigidity suppresses unwanted noise from the outlet box, which can cause sound distortion and blurring.
The monocoque construction allows the power outlet to be secured with four posts extending from the base, transmitting vibrations directly to the chassis' base. The unit is 4mm thick, more than 1.4 times thicker than standard PVC products (2.8mm thick). Furthermore, carbon fiber is added to the material to minimize interference between peripheral devices, and 13mm-diameter feet are added to the base to reduce the contact area between the unit and the floor, minimizing resonance. These combined elements of material and structure result in reduced distortion and a high S/N ratio, two hallmarks of the OCB-1 series.
