Northwest Vintage Guitars presents a righteously restored 1938 Gibson L-30 Archtop with a ton of patina. She sounds great with sparkling clarity and that signature Gibson Archtop plunk. It sounds like those old records your great grandfather played. The truss rod cover was presumably replaced or engraved by "Carl." She was in need of a great deal of work and our Luthier abides. The back was removed and all the loose braces were addressed, properly shaped and reattached with Fish Glue. A section of kerfing was replaced and two cracks repaired and cleated. The frets were leveled, recrowned, and polished. She is ready to roll.
The nut measures 1.77", neck depth is .98"-1.09 at the 1st and 10th frets respectively. It's a hard V neck profile that feels like another era. Freshly strung with Flatwound Nickel 11's and accurately intonated. It plays great on perfect spec action with adjustability either way. 24.75" scale, 12" radius, 4.29 lbs. The neck is straight, the truss rod turns in both directions, and the relief is currently set for optimum playability. There are a few scratches, dings, and dents as pictured. The fretboard wear doesn't pose a playability issue. It remains in excellent playable condition with no dead spots or unwarranted buzzing. Comes safely packed and fully insured in the hard shell case in the photos.
