Beautiful and very cool 1968 Teisco May Queen!
The Teisco May Queen was only produced in 1968, making it a particularly rare vintage Japanese guitar.
The guitar’s distinctive shape is inspired by an artist’s palette, and it offers a wide palette of sounds as well. :) The frets have been polished and the guitar plays and sounds very nicely.
It has been modified with a few practical upgrades, while still retaining its original vintage feel and character.
Condition & modifications:
- Newer replacement tuners (Grover)
- The headstock has been black oversprayed to conceal the previous tuner mounting holes
- Some minor touch-ups to the finish
- New CTS potentiometers
- New switch
- Otherwise retains its vintage character and components
- Comes with a newer hard case
The cosmetic work is visible on close inspection, particularly the black overspray on the headstock. I'm mentioning this clearly for transparency, as the guitar has obviously had some modifications during its life.
That said, this is a very enjoyable vintage Japanese guitar. The neck feels great, it plays beautifully, and it has that unmistakable late-60s Teisco character.
A great choice for someone looking for an authentic vintage Japanese guitar that is ready to play rather than a museum piece.
