The Guild D-40 Natural is a premium, USA-made dreadnought that embodies over six decades of Guild acoustic heritage. Built with all-solid tonewoods and traditional craftsmanship, the D-40 delivers the powerful low-end, rich midrange warmth and clear, articulate highs that players expect from a classic mahogany-back dreadnought.

At its core is a hand-selected solid Sitka spruce top, paired with solid African mahogany back and sides. This timeless tonewood combination produces exceptional balance and projection — strong enough for confident strumming, yet responsive and dynamic for fingerstyle work. Scalloped Adirondack spruce bracing enhances resonance and headroom, allowing the guitar to open up beautifully the more it’s played.

The comfortable C-shaped mahogany neck and 25.625" scale length provide a familiar feel, with excellent string tension and clarity across the fretboard. An Indian rosewood fingerboard and bridge add warmth and definition, while bone nut and saddle ensure optimal sustain and tuning stability.

Visually, the D-40 Natural reflects Guild’s understated elegance. A gloss nitrocellulose lacquer finish allows the wood to breathe and age gracefully, complemented by classic tortoiseshell binding, a period-correct rosette, pearloid dot inlays and vintage-style open-gear tuners. The result is an instrument that looks every bit as refined as it sounds.

B-Stock

This really is a stunning guitar and a great deal for anyone who doesn't mind a small cosmetic issue. As seen in the images, there is a slight distortion along the centre seam near the bottom of the body, this is not effecting playability or the structural integrity. To touch it feels like air was trapped underneath the lacquer along the seam during the finishing stage.
