Master builder Jason Smith from the Fender Custom store now pays tribute to the musician who died in 2002 with the Fender Limited Edition Joe Strummer Esquire Relic, an accurate replica of his iconic stage instrument, including all the visual details and an authentic Relic finish that impressively showcases the playing traces of the original that have accumulated over the years.

The replica model is based on Joe's famous Esquire, which can be heard on the legendary London Calling album and perfectly matches the band's hard playing style thanks to its straightforward design with a single bridge pickup. With its two-piece body made of alder and a four-bolt neck made of flat-sawn maple with a strong '59 'C' profile, the Joe Strummer Esquire follows the traditional recipe of the fifties. The instrument delivers a powerful portion of wood behind the fingerboard, which gives fans of classic Vintage Fender instruments in particular unmistakable playability from the very first notes played.

Faithfully modeled on the original, pickup legend Josefina Campos recreates an astonishingly accurate image of the raw and brute sound character of this iconic guitar with her hand-wound version of the Custom Shop 55/56 Single Coil. Of course, the wiring under the hood remains true to the Esquire and offers a 3-way switch that can either directly control the volume pot for maximum brightness, Volume and Tone together or an additional filter that can elicit warm and round sounds from the instrument.

Of course, the Fender Limited Edition Joe Strummer Esquire Relic Masterbuilt Jason Smith features the clearly recognizable features of the original. The body behind the top-load/string-through Tele bridge is adorned with the famous 'Bourbon Street' sticker and the glued-on black racing stripe, while the loving Custom Relic finish recreates the real playing traces of Joe's stage guitar. In addition, the Joe Strummer Esquire comes in a pink Anvil Tour Case, which features a beautiful leopard print lining and 'Strummer' stencil on the outside.
