Conn Transitional 6M Alto Saxophone – Pre-War – Serial Number 2753XX – Rare NY Neck – Excellent Condition
For sale is a beautiful and increasingly hard-to-find Conn Transitional 6M alto saxophone, manufactured in the USA during the pre-war era, with a serial number starting with 2753XX.
I purchased this saxophone approximately two years ago from the well-known Brian at GetASax in the United States, a highly respected specialist in vintage saxophones.
After purchasing it, I had the saxophone professionally repadded. However, as I am primarily a tenor saxophone player, I have barely used it since. It has been carefully stored and remains in excellent condition.
This is a particularly desirable example of the Conn Transitional 6M, featuring the rare and sought-after original "NY" neck, without a microtuner, and the distinctive large-loop octave key mechanism.
It also retains the original protective guard over the so-called "nail file" G# key, a detail that is often missing from these vintage instruments.
Main features:
- Original pre-war Conn Transitional 6M alto saxophone.
- Serial number: 2753XX.
- Rare original NY neck without microtuner.
- Distinctive large-loop octave key mechanism.
- Original protective key guard still present.
- Professionally repadded after purchase.
- Very little use since the repad.
- Excellent overall condition.
- Purchased from Bryan at GetASax (USA).
- Includes the original vintage Conn case.
The Conn Transitional series is widely regarded as one of the finest periods in American saxophone manufacturing, combining exceptional craftsmanship with a rich, powerful, and expressive sound.
These instruments are particularly appreciated for their big, warm vintage tone, excellent projection, and distinctive character. They are highly sought after by jazz musicians, professional players, and vintage saxophone collectors.
This is a wonderful opportunity to acquire a genuine piece of American saxophone history, especially in this configuration with the rare NY neck.
