GRECO PE-520 - 'GNECO' MATSUMOKU 1972-73 - WALNUT - VGC - w/OHSC

This is an exceptionally high quality Matsumoku specification, build and finish. Greco made these for just a couple of years in the early 1970s. They are now becoming rare.

In their 1973 catalogue Greco refer to the '...More than 24 tones' in the range of sounds possible. Which of course was the whole idea since it's based on the Les Paul Professional.

Mercifully, Greco's version comes in a little lighter than Gibson's original backbreaker owing to a chambered, sculpted-out body.

Condition-wise...

This PE-520 is in fantastic condition and complete with its original hard case.

Cosmetically, it has a couple of nicks to the body and head with one noticeable scrape to the neck which you can see in the photos.

Original pickups, controls, tuners and all hardware function perfectly. Frets have minor wear but overall this guitar has been extremely well maintained for its 50+ years.

In action...

It plays beautifully and sounds superb after a recent full pro set up.

The electrics are perfect (we replaced one switch), new strings, intonation spot on with a fast low action.

Takes time to master all the switching combinations. But as Greco (and Gibson) promised it most certainly has every kind of sound you could ever wish for.
