Marshall 212B Speaker Cabinet 1970's - Black Tolex

Marshall 212B Vintage-Style Speaker Cabinet – Unusual Vertical 2x12 Configuration – 16 Ohm – Serial No. 08992. It appears to have the same dimensions as a 1960B (approximately 760mm wide × 830mm high × 360mm deep),

An unusual and rather interesting Marshall speaker cabinet, and certainly not something you come across every day.

This is a Marshall 212B, featuring the same impressive overall dimensions as the familiar Marshall 1960B straight-front 4x12 cabinet, but with a very distinctive difference: it houses two vertically mounted 12-inch speaker drivers rather than the conventional four-speaker arrangement.

The result is a particularly imposing 2x12 cabinet, retaining the visual presence and substantial proportions of a full-size Marshall stack cabinet, but with a more unusual speaker configuration.

The cabinet carries serial number 08992 stamped on a metal plate on the back of the cabinet. It is wired for 16-ohm operation.

The two speakers have substantial magnets and, from their general appearance, look potentially to be Celestion G12-75 type drivers. However, we have not yet been able to positively identify them, so we are deliberately avoiding making any definitive claims about their specification or originality.

We are currently undertaking further research into this rather unusual model and will update the listing as more information becomes available.

Cosmetically, the cabinet is in very good overall condition, with the usual signs of use associated with a working amplifier cabinet. It presents very nicely and has that unmistakable Marshall presence.

For players looking for something a little different from the usual 1960B 4x12, this is an interesting opportunity to acquire a less commonly encountered Marshall configuration. Equally appealing to collectors of unusual Marshall equipment.

A substantial, distinctive and rather intriguing cabinet. We are happy to be transparent about what we know and what remains to be established.

Further information to follow as our research progresses.
