About this listing
Wefve just received a 1981 Gibson ES-335TD Walnut. It features wood materials typical of that era, including a laminated maple body, a three-piece maple neck with a volute, and a rosewood fingerboard. While plain maple necks are generally the norm, this particular guitarfs neck features a flame pattern, which, combined with its color, gives it a truly luxurious look. It is equipped with gSeries VII (Tar Back)h pickups. Itfs characterized by a crisp and powerful tone?clear when played clean, and delivering a strong, edgy sound when distorted. The serial numbers are 401781 for the front pickup and 400881 for the rear pickup; both were manufactured in 1981. The lower horn features a tap switch?a specification unique to this era?allowing you to tap each pickup. Although the specifications of this particular guitar match those of the ES-335 from that era, the label inside the F-hole reads gES-355TD.h This is likely a factory error, though the details are unclear. While there are buckle marks, scratches, dents, and stand marks on the back of the neck and the body end, it remains in very good condition considering its age. Additionally, the case hardware shows rust and warping, making it difficult to open. This is a Vintage 335 with a beautiful flame-figured neck. Itfs a highly authentic instrument in excellent condition.
