The Martin 0-18K is a rare, all-Koa (Hawaiian wood) version of Martin’s small “0” size guitar, produced roughly from 1918-1934, popular for its unique mellow tone, often built for Hawaiian lap-style playing but convertible to standard Spanish style, representing a cool transition period in Martin’s history as the modern steel-string era took hold. It’s known for rich, sweet midrange, surprising clarity, and is a sought-after collector’s item, especially well-preserved examples like Les Paul’s.
This guitar has just recently had a neck reset and a couple of the bar frets replaced so the playability is great. Prior to us, the bridge had been replaced (as all Hawaiian guitars need to in order to function as Spanish style guitars) and it can look slightly askew (possibly to account for intonation – as it intonates well). The Koa is striking and in great condition with no cracks to report. Comes w/ modern HSC.
