The Starclassic series began using bubinga shells in 2006, a material that was unusual at the time and generated considerable buzz. Based on years of experience, the bubinga shell, highly regarded for its distinctive dark and deep tone and powerful, mid-low frequency sound, is molded into an ultra-thin 4.5mm shell for the Star series. Furthermore, a 9mm thick sound focus ring is fitted to the inside of the shell to enhance vibration efficiency and achieve rich resonance.

The newly designed lugs are a bridge type with a smaller design, minimizing the contact surface with the shell as much as possible. The smaller lugs reduce the overall weight of the snare drum and, by reducing the number of parts, allow the shell's inherent potential to be more open and resonant.
