Astro solid and fully carved Semi Acoustic – 1960s German Vintage Archtop Jazz Guitar

This is a beautiful Archtop model made by Georg and Hans Strohmer under his „Astro“ Brand. August Strohmer, father of Georg and Hans, founded the brand in 1906 together with Max Zimmer (another big name in the german instrument world). They built all sorts of stringed instruments, and in the 50s, after August gave the company to his sons, they started to built high quality archtops too. Astro guitars are often a secret tip among vintage lovers, since their quality is great and and they are lesser known due to their shop being relatively small.

I have never seen this guitar model by Astro, but it is in line with their building practices, so it is an original, very rare one. The guitar is of really high quality, it is fully made out of solid woods and hand carved. It had a slit on the top, wich was perfectly fixed by my luthier, who also checked and set up the guitar. Quite a beautiful, well sounding guitar.

The guitar is in really good shape for its age over all, but got some wear here and there, as you can see in the pictures. The electronics are fully functioning, the switches and potis work perfectly and the pickups produce a nice and distinctive vintage sound, perfect for the music of the 60s and 70s. The neck is straight and the action is low, therefore it is comfortable to play. The frets where polished, the fretboard was oiled and the strings are new too!

I ship worldwide with DHL and with the DHL-shipping insurance wich goes up to 500€. I am not going to lie to you or blandish a possible transport risk like some other people do. International shipping can be dangerous and packages are sometimes treated roughly. If you however choose to have an international shipment, I will do my absolute best to protect the guitar. I have collected a lot of experience in the past on how to ship a guitar securely. I will take photos of the packaging and the exact condition of the guitar right before I ship it. You should know, that after shipping the guitar and entering the shipping number, I am not responsible for anything anymore and myjob is done. But I will gladly back you up with the insurance case with said photos and exact details in the rare case anything goes wrong. The standart insurance I ship all guitars with is up to 500€.
