The "D-18" is a beloved dreadnought guitar, boasting excellent balance. Like the "D-28," it boasts a long history, with some even calling it the true Martin. This pre-owned instrument dates back to 1973. It features a Sitka spruce top, mahogany back and sides, mahogany neck, rosewood fingerboard and bridge, original Grover Rotomatic tuning machines, MOP dot fingerboard inlays, black binding, square rods, non-scalloped X bracing, and a 42.9mm nut-width neck width for comfortable grip, even for tighter playing styles. The nut and saddle have been replaced, and the pickguard has been upgraded from the original painted black pickguard to an unpainted black one. This guitar retains a traditional, demure aesthetic that dates back to the post-war era. Its distinctive rugged, rugged, and powerful sound, characteristic of the 1970s SQ rods, is a truly captivating instrument. The instrument boasts a rich, sweet mid-low range, a bright, crisp mid-high range, and a good attack. Its direct sound projection is more pronounced than current models, and its quick response and sharpness make it playable with both strumming and fingerpicking. There are signs of a previous crack near the bridge groove that has been repaired, and a very slight paint chip on the edge of the pickguard, likely from a previous replacement. However, it remains playable without any issues. The body end shows signs of a previous pickup, which enlarged the pinhole, but the same diameter endpin provides a seamless finish. There are signs of a crack on the side of the body, extending from both sides of the neck heel to the shoulder, but the interior has been patched and the exterior has been beautifully repaired, indicating careful repair. There are scratches and buckle marks throughout, as well as scratches from playing and thinning paint on the top. However, there are no cracks or other serious issues, and this instrument remains in excellent condition. This D18 is in perfect player condition, offering excellent playability and the experience of a '70s Martin. Weather-checked and imposing, this D18 shows years of hard-earned playing. Experience the folk-boom sound you won't find in modern guitars.
