This is a vintage, high-quality intermediate model flute from Altus!
Representing Altus’ founding craftsmanship, this was one of the first flutes made by Altus when they were first established and started production in 1990. While produced in Taiwan, they were made under the guidance of Shuichi Tanaka, the master Japanese flute maker who founded Altus, and often shared design and tonal characteristics with the early Japanese model.
The beautiful Mayflower engraving on the head joint is another detail of the flute worth noting for flute enthusiasts.
The AFL-911E is built for intermediate level. The Altus brand are known for producing high end professional flutes, their standard and intermediate models are excellently crafted and perform to a higher quality than other intermediate brands.
Rich sound and resonance, easy to play even for beginners. Signature thin head joint.
Further Details:
- 0.958 Britannia silver head joint, silver plated nickel silver body and end. Even many pro flutes today use only 0.925 sterling.
- Split E mechanism.
- Part of Altus' handmade series, hand-cut headjoint!
Condition: fair.
- May require pad work, sticky keys (sound only, keys bounce right back up) but does not affect sound quality.
- Some tarnished areas: cosmetic wear, view last 5 photos.
- No major scratches.
- Fully functional: keys work and still produce high quality sounds with ease.
- Comes as is, please view the youtube video embedded shot in 4K.
Additional Notes:
- I personally bought it in Taiwan 7 years ago and only played it for 3 months. Reason for selling: don’t enjoy playing the flute, I’m way more into piano. But this flute’s tone is absolutely amazing.
- Model: AFL-911E
- Serial number: 905521
