Due to the low resolution of 16 bit and 12 kHz/24 kHz with optional 12 bit mode, a sound quality from the time long before the Akai S1000 is achieved. The memory architecture is organized in projects. A project comprises up to 256 samples or 64 MB; the maximum number of projects that can be stored depends on the size of the SD card used. SamplesThe practical sampler comes from the factory with a professional sample library comprising 2500 carefully categorized samples of all kinds. The numerous sounds of popular vintage drum machines were created by . Self-recorded samples can be stored on a separately available SD card. Import and export of samples from/to PC or Mac is also provided. An existing sample archive in WAV format can therefore still be used with the Lofi-12 XT. The device is capable of self-sampling, with up to 40 seconds available per sample. Editing & effectsThe samples selected on the sequencer tracks can be edited with pitch, start and end point adjustment, reverse playback, envelopes, LFO modulation for Pitch and filters. But that's not all; for each track, one of 22 insert effects (including delay, bitcrusher, flanger, isolator, distortion, vinyl noise) can be applied to the samples. There are various reverb and delay algorithms and a compressor for the master section. Flexible tracks for creative arrangementsThe eight-track sequencer of the Lofi-12 XT is divided into tracks and songs. The first step is to define what task each of the eight tracks should have; you can choose whether the track should be a loop, one-shot, instrument or Drum track. The sequencer can be programmed live or step-by-step in the TR grid and has a memory capacity of 128 patterns per project, each of which can be up to 128 steps long, and 16 songs. Recording parameter locks brings life and variety to the patterns. The shuffle (swing) parameter adds more groove and funkiness to the beats. Various live effects in the sequencer bring variations to the current pattern at the touch of a button without having to reprogram anything. ConnectionsThe USB port allows you to connect a smartphone, which makes it possible to stream audio directly into the sampler. Conversely, it is possible to record the sampler's stereo track directly into the DAW. The impedance of the audio input can be switched so that line, microphone and Hi-Z signals can be processed. The built-in microphone can feed in any sound on the spot, making it ideal for capturing the cutlery drawer, slamming car doors or the atmosphere in a station concourse as a sample. You can also sample directly from your smartphone via USB! The stereo output is connected to a mixing console as usual. For connection to other equipment, there are MIDI inputs and outputs as well as Analog Sync In & Out to synchronize the sampler with Korg Volca or Teenage Pocket Operators, for example.
