Back in the 1970s, many companies were making copies of Gibson Les Pauls, with some toeing the lines of trademark law closer than others. The time has since become known as the "lawsuit era." These days, companies making single-cut guitars usually include a few unique features, a tweaked headstock shape, or some other giveaway that lets players know they're not genuine Gibsons.
But we thought it would be fun to look back at Gibsons and Gibson copies from that time and see if you can tell which is which. So, are these genuine '70s Gibsons or Grecos, Ibanezes, and other clones from the "lawsuit era"?
