A rare pair of original Midas CR01 channel strips from a vintage CR01 console, housed in the original Midas rack — and with a great story attached.

These modules reportedly came from the exact console on which Peter Gabriel recorded an album at a studio in the Netherlands. The seller years ago told me the name of the studio and also sent me picture of the desk at the studio. I'm currently locating the photo and studio name and am happy to share these with the buyer.

Specs:

  • IC-based Midas circuitry
  • Input transformers: Sowter Type 3423 (x2)
  • Output transformers: WSM 600/600 (x2)
  • Original Midas rack included
  • 48V phantom power not currently integrated — prep board likely included (confirm on purchase)
  • Stored dry for several years; no recent function test

The Sowter/WSM transformer combination elevates these well beyond a standard CR01 — more color, more character. A serious piece of analog console history.

Best suited for someone with electronics knowledge, or a collector who appreciates the history.
