The Korg monotron DUO is an analogue synthesiser from the monotron family. This pocket synthesiser features two VCOs and supports cross-modulation (X-MOD). The two oscillators enable sounds ranging from vibrato to metallic tones reminiscent of an FM synth. Furthermore, thanks to its battery operation and built-in speaker, the monotron DUO is flexible and portable. The synthesiser features a ribbon controller that serves as a keyboard and has very few other controls: five knobs and a switch are all you need to embark on hours of musically inspiring exploration. This makes the monotron DUO ideal for beginners and analogue experts alike. DJs can incorporate effects live, and even seasoned musicians can use the monotron models to add some analogue ‘oomph’ to their performances – the possibilities are virtually endless.
X-Mod for unusual sound texturesWith its two oscillators, the Korg monotron DUO breaks new ground, where new and unusual sounds are waiting to be discovered or ‘tweaked’. For fat analogue bass sounds, set the tuning of both oscillators to unison. If you tune both oscillators to an interval relative to each other, you’ll get classic lead/solo sounds and wild effects. The cross-modulation circuit (X-Mod) is borrowed from KORG’s classic Mono/Poly synthesiser, allowing you to add a character to the sound ranging from soft to razor-sharp. This produces everything from vibrato sounds right through to radical, metallic sounds reminiscent of an FM synth.
