Leblanc B♭ clarinet, model L27. Grenadilla body, silver-plated keys. Made in the late 1970s. A little-known Leblanc that took on the French-bore trend of the R13 era.
In the 1970s, as narrow-bore French-style clarinets led by the Buffet Crampon R13 gained a major presence worldwide, Leblanc also changed course. Starting with the L7, Leblanc launched a series of upper-grade narrow-bore models, and the L27 was one of them: an ambitious design that kept Leblanc's bright, colorful character while clearly targeting the French style that was becoming mainstream.
Intonation has some character of its own; rather than the instrument doing all the work, this is a clarinet where the player shapes the sound with breath and embouchure. When the match is right, it rewards you with a bright, lively tone and distinctive Leblanc personality. The L27 was never officially imported into Japan, so it is rarely seen and few people know it exists today. More than just an "old high-end clarinet," it lets you hear firsthand how Leblanc answered the R13 movement.
[Condition]
Some light scratches and small dings on the keys. No plating loss or cracks. Overhauled with all-new pads (white leather) and corks, and fully adjusted.
Accessories: used lightweight semi-hard case, Leblanc mouthpiece (tooth marks and discoloration), ligature.
