Greco EGF-1200 1980 - Sunburst

1980 Greco "Super Real" EGF-1200 LP

This is a rare opportunity to get hold of a Greco Super Real EGF-1200.

Anyone who knows, understands that these are ultra rare and highly sought after in any condition.

Made in 1980, the first year of the Super Real range, this example is original and complete. The photographs confirm the details. The wiring and solder is untouched, pots and capacitors are the original spec.

Pickups are the now legendary Maxon Z-Dry, matching serial numbered with date consistent to the guitar serial. The pickups alone can sell for in excess of AU$2500 these days - if you can find some.

This guitar is in Australia, imported a few years ago, so Australian buyers have no concerns about shipping costs, import duties or damage from international freight. Import & shipping costs have skyrocketed in the past few years, making already expensive purchases even more so. Shipping worldwide can be arranged via DHL only. Please ask for quotes - but coming from Australia, they won't be cheap. Shipping in Australia is with TNT Sensitive Express, insured only and will cost around $200.

This guitar has been played, no questions. Aroun d the body there are many dings and chips in the finish. A couple of hairline cracks in the finish at the neck, but they don't extend into the wood - there has never been a neck repair on this guitar.

The EGF-1200 was top of the standard production line for the Greco EGF models. The only higher model was the made-to-order EGF-1800.

The guitar is faithfully modelled on a 1958 Les Paul. The top is a flame maple veneer on a solid maple cap. The body is mahogany. It has a chunky one piece mahogany neck. Dark rosewood fretboard with the original skinny '58 style frets with fret edge binding. Tuners are original Greco Deluxe.

The top 2 tuners (D&G string) have bent shafts, but still function so, for originality, I haven't changed them. Gotoh tuners will be a drop in replacement and authentic, being Japanese made.

All of the bridge, tailpiece and plastic parts are original and in good condition. The pickguard is missing, but with such a stunning top, is it really necessary.

This guitar plays like a dream. The pickups sound incredible, having often been compared as one of the closest PAF clones ever made.

Serious buyers are welcome to try the guitar out, location is North-West Sydney (2147).
