Rockabilly Heaven...

Here is a sweet USA made birch Harmony/Alden H1213 acoustic archtop from the 1950s. Firstly, it's a looker. Bound back and top. Vertical striping on a carved deep sunburst. It's totally original with the pickguard and Alden headstock stamp intact.

Harmony USA only used solid woods on even their cheapest models. The neck joint

is as tight as the day it was originally glued. It has a small but stable crack on the back and a scuff on the binding (see pics). There is some superficial cowboy chord wear on the fretboard. This is an untrussed guitar and the neck is straight but it could use a setup and fresh strings. This

one is in very good shape and a player. The neck is straight and it holds tune. The action

is medium and great for open tuning and slide but perfectly fine for cowboy chords. The sound is tight, woody and boxey. A truly lovely USA built guitar.
