Takeshi Iwamoto, a veteran instrument builder based in Suginami, Tokyo, runs Acoustic World. He specializes in building instruments such as flat-top mandolins and acoustic guitars, and his flat-top mandolins in particular have earned high praise from bluegrass musicians in the United States.

This instrument is an Army Navy-style mandolin from our original brand, Lasting, which we have been continuously producing in collaboration with Mr. Iwamoto. Its compact, charming design makes it easy to carry around, even simply by putting it into a gig bag and taking it with you.

The instrument features a full-gloss finish and a beautiful appearance, including inlay work on the headstock and rosette. It is quite rare to find such a luxurious model in this style today. The tasteful, vintage-inspired burst finish also looks fantastic.

The top is made from tight-grained spruce, while the sides, back, and neck are crafted from beautifully figured maple. The fingerboard is made from jet-black ebony, making the overall choice of tonewoods exceptionally impressive.

Sonically, this mandolin has a rich, acoustic character with a beautiful, glossy tone. Despite its round soundhole design, it offers excellent tonal balance and projection, with plenty of volume.

In terms of playability, the instrument was specifically designed with beginners and guitar players in mind. It features a radiused fingerboard, relatively thick frets, and a deliberately soft string tension, making it exceptionally comfortable and easy to play. The frets are made from Evo Gold, which wears more slowly than conventional nickel frets.

This is a truly special model, carefully crafted with attention to every detail. We highly recommend taking it into your hands and experiencing it for yourself.
