Fodera Imperial 5 Elite Custom Olive Used

When you think of single-cutaway basses, you think of Fodera.

And when you think of Fodera, you think of Imperial.

We've just received a used 5-string model, a quintessential and highly recommended instrument.

Upon a quick inspection, the top is Fodera's classic olive wood.

While many olive wood basses have a gentle look with soft carving patterns, this one has a bold, burl-like finish.

The standard Fodera Duncan pickups are beautifully adorned with optional olive wood covers.

Moving on to the back, the back is a strong, deep walnut with a flame maple center block, creating a flowing beauty from the headstock to the body end.

The neck is primarily maple with wenge in between, also an optional 5-piece construction.

This further strengthens the already robust neck and adds a nice accent of subtle variations in color.

Returning to the front, the ebony fretboard is a simple type with some thin sections remaining.

The absence of position markers contributes to the overall simplicity.

Side dots are present, so there shouldn't be any issues with playability.

All parts are uniformly black, and the slightly darker olive color is further tightened by the black hardware, creating a sharp overall look.

The sound, as expected from its appearance, is mid-centric.

The classic walnut body with an ebony fretboard provides a wide range while highlighting the richness of the mids.

The rear pickup is coil-tapped and positioned in the 1960s Jazz Bass position when used as a single-coil, which also contributes to the strong mid-range.

The preamp is the V3, the previous model.

Compared to the latest V4, it has a more refined, high-quality audio preamp feel.

This preamp cannot be purchased separately, making it a valuable piece of equipment these days.

The condition of the used instrument suggests it has been well-played; there are a few dents, but no major damage.

After cleaning, the strings have been replaced with Fodera x DR nickel strings and the guitar has been adjusted.

Ready to use immediately.
