Video: Slow Joy's Shoegazey-Emo Live Rig

On their most recent tour stop in Chicago, we had the chance to catch up with Esteban Flores and the Slow Joy crew at the Audiotree studio to see what gear they turn to to bring their dynamic sound to life on the road.

To kick things off, Esteban showed us the foundation of his rig—a Fender Ed O'Brien Stratocaster that he modded with a '70s era American-made Strat neck to give it more of a vintage kind of feel. But the pedalboard is really where everything comes to life.

For just a couple of examples, the Diamond Compressor is an effect that always stays on on Esteban's board and that he swears is the best he's heard in a pedal. All of his distortion tones surprisingly also come from one source, the Walrus Audio Eras that he said he tested head to against every other distortion they could find and it won every time.

Be sure to check out the full video above to see what other gear the band turns to on the road, including a cornucopia of effects, a super cool Fender Jaguar, Orange amp heads, and so much more. Then, check out Slow Joy's new Audiotree live session to hear all the gear in action.
