Five years ago, Gamechanger Audio partnered with Jack White and Third Man Hardware to create a special edition of one of their popular circuits, the Plasma pedal. From this collaboration, the Plasma Coil distortion was born.
Now, to celebrate this half-decade milestone, Gamechanger is releasing a super limited-edition batch of all-white Plasma Coil pedals. Being that most of Gamechanger's lineup is on the darker side, these pedals, with their white chassis and silver plates of photosensitive, anodized aluminum, really stand out.
The Plasma Coil is one of the most sizzlingly sharp distortion pedals on the market thanks to Gamechanger's High-Voltage Distortion tech, which transforms audio signal into a series of electrical discharges. As Gamechanger explains, "The input signal is transformed to high voltage and sent to a xenon tube, where an antenna picks up the electromagnetic vibrations surrounding the tube."
The resulting effect also acts as a natural noise gate that creates strong contrast between staccato notes while also eliminating unwanted pickup hum. Visually, users are also in for a treat, as the pedal's electric discharge tube actually produces visible bolts of lightning that react to the input signal.
The limited-edition all-white anniversary Plasma Coil is available now on Reverb. Total units are limited to just 400, so be sure to get one while you can.
