MARBLED!
Feast your eyes upon this neck-thru bass made in Japan by Matsumoku in the late 1970s or early 1980s. This one belongs to a frequent customer of mine, he is a frontline medical worker who has been working in the Nashville cooperate and cover band circuit for the past....uhhh....35-40 years.
He has an affinity for whacky 1980s, heavily modded gear. Everything thing he brings me, I both love and hate in equal proportion. I am not one for 1980s gear as a general rule, but this customer's gear always has a way of making me go "welll.....huh....would you look at that?" This one, he had a friend of his hydro / polydip, so it has a rad marbled effect. See photos for full details.
It plays great with low action and the frets have most of their life left. There are no dead spots anywhere up the neck. There is some minor damage, but nothing structural. All electronics work as they should and it sounds great plugged in. It is a really full sounding bass.
