The ThorpyFX WOPR is a dual-channel fuzz and boost pedal combining a newly developed, aggressive fuzz circuit with a silicon Rangemaster-inspired boost.
The WOPR began as a custom combination of ThorpyFX’s Fallout Cloud fuzz and the silicon boost circuit from the Veteran, developed for guitarist Oli Brown. The final pedal replaces the Fallout Cloud with a new fuzz circuit based on its design, pushing the concept toward more gain, aggression and high-frequency bite. Paired with the boost, it covers everything from thick, saturated fuzz to cutting, highly articulate lead tones.
The fuzz and boost can be used independently or together, with the boost adding additional drive, focus and upper-mid presence to the fuzz circuit. The result is a high-gain combination designed for dense, aggressive and highly responsive guitar sounds.
The name WOPR references the AI supercomputer from WarGames — an appropriate choice for a pedal built around the possibility of escalating things considerably.
