BUILD & DESIGN

The Perception LIVE P5 features a robust all-metal handheld body with a hardened steel mesh grille designed for demanding live environments. The shape follows AKG’s modern ergonomic stage microphone design language, offering comfortable handling and solid resistance against mechanical stress. The microphone uses a standard balanced XLR output connection.

• Capsule
  This is a dynamic moving-coil microphone with a supercardioid polar pattern. The capsule is tuned for vocal clarity and stage intelligibility, with controlled proximity effect and focused side rejection to help reduce bleed and feedback in loud monitoring environments.
• Circuit
  Passive dynamic design with transformer-balanced output architecture, requiring no phantom power. The signal path is optimized for reliable live operation and strong output consistency.

SOUND CHARACTERISTICS

The Perception LIVE P5 delivers a forward and articulate vocal sound with a noticeable upper-mid presence that helps speech and vocals cut through dense live mixes. The low end remains controlled and practical for close vocal work, while the high-frequency response adds clarity without becoming excessively sharp.

Its supercardioid behavior offers good isolation on loud stages, making it especially suitable for live vocals, rehearsal rooms, speech applications, and close-miked performance setups. It also works surprisingly well for utility studio tasks such as snare drum, guitar cabinet, or talkback use.

FREQUENCY RESPONSE

Frequency Response:
40 Hz – 20,000 Hz

Like many modern live dynamic vocal microphones, the response technically extends toward 20 kHz, but the usable and meaningful output above roughly 14–16 kHz is already quite reduced and less linear. The upper range mainly adds a sense of openness and air rather than detailed condenser-style high-frequency capture.
