Easily one of the finest L-50 archtops we've had in the shop & we've certainly had quite a few of them over the years. This gorgeous example features a carved spruce top with a beautiful flame maple arched back & rims. The beefy V-shaped mahogany neck is very comfortable & plays great anywhere on the fretboard. Fully inspected & professionally set up ready to play upon arrival.
Cosmetic Condition: Remarkably good condition considering its age - various little nicks, chips, dents & dings; scratches & some weather checking. There's a bit of a deep groove in the back of the headstock & a black marker/ink spot inside the body, but overall the guitar looks marvelous & shows off a lovely patina.
Neck: Chunky V-shaped mahogany neck with cream side-dots. Dark rosewood fingerboard with mother of pearl dot inlays. Frets show a bit of wear, but have plenty of life in them. Open-gear Grover tuners with ivoroid buttons & Gibson script headstock logo. 1 3/4" nut width; 24 3/4" scale length. Neck is straight & plays great!
Body: Double-bound archtop. Solid spruce top in sunburst finish with dual F-holes. Nickel trapeze tailpiece with floating rosewood bridge. Pickguard is missing. Arched maple back & maple rims, showing off some really stunning flame figuring. 16" lower bout width. There are no electronics & the guitar weighs 4 lbs 7.7 oz.
Case: Vintage Gibson brown hardshell case included.
