Eastman Strings is an American company with its own workshop in Beijing, China. Using well-seasoned, high-quality tonewoods, the company produces guitars, mandolins, violins, violas, cellos, and double basses. With one of the world’s largest stocks of maple for violin-family instruments, Eastman is highly regarded in Japan and throughout Europe.

This is the MD-304, an oval-hole mandolin with a refined satin finish.

Despite its accessible price, the top and back are both hand-carved from solid woods, resulting in an instrument made with exceptional care.

The soft, open, guitar-like sound characteristic of the oval-hole design makes this mandolin suitable for a wide variety of genres, including jazz, blues, and pop. It is particularly effective for tremolo playing.

After arrival, our in-house workshop adjusted the nut and saddle, then restrung the instrument with extra-light-gauge strings (.009 and above) to further improve playability. It is set up for comfortable playing and is highly recommended for anyone considering taking up the mandolin.

*Photos are for reference; wood grain will vary from instrument to instrument.
