The "Signature Series" was SONOR's flagship model produced between 1982 and 1993.

This series offered a choice between two shell types: a heavy shell (12-ply, 12mm beech) and a light shell (12-ply, 7mm birch). This specific unit features the rare birch light shell specification.

As the domestic SONOR importer received limited stock of the light shell version at the time, it remains a rare model with limited circulation in Japan.

In contrast to the mellow, weighty sound of the heavy shell, the light shell offers an open, expansive tone that still possesses a solid, thick character. It is a distinctive instrument combining rich resonance with excellent responsiveness.

While there are no major cosmetic flaws, the drum shows signs of use consistent with its age, including fine surface scratches, minor pitting, and some soiling. One of the retaining screws for the snare wire connecting rod is not original.

The distinctive parallel-action strainer functions smoothly, and there is no damage affecting the sound. Removable parts (other than the parallel mechanism itself) have been disassembled, inspected, maintained, and cleaned.
