This impressive sound is a vital part of the classic combo organ voice, and guitarists and other musicians have also employed rotary speakers to infuse iconic tracks with their distinctively rich depth and movement.Authentic PerformanceThe most revered rotary speaker designs feature a spinning high-frequency horn (treble rotor) and a woofer that feeds into a rotating drum (bass rotor). Changing rotor speeds between fast and slow creates a steady stream of tonal shifts that players have long used for expressive effects. The RT-2 authentically replicates these audio behaviours, coupled with two-way speed control, a Rise/Fall Time switch for adjusting the transition time between speeds, and a colourful indicator that shows the current rotation of the virtual rotors.Vintage Saturation and Tonal BalanceInspired by the tube amplification circuits in vintage rotary speakers, the RT-2’s Drive knob lets you add pleasing distortion to the sound, from mild to gritty. Via a rear-panel switch, this dual-function control can alternately adjust the volume balance between the treble and bass rotors to dial in different tonal characteristics. Your most recent settings for drive and balance are automatically stored in memory and instantly recalled on the next power-up cycle.Three Versatile TonesUse the RT-2’s three-position Mode switch to call up the classic rotary speaker voice and two modern variations developed with custom BOSS tuning.Mode I—A faithful reproduction of the most famous vintage rotary speaker design, realised with the latest BOSS modelling technology. This mode adds traditional rotary colour to any instrument, from guitar and bass to organs, electric pianos, synthesisers, and more.Mode II—The vintage rotary sound, enhanced with a wider tonal range. This mode provides increased spatial performance when paired with overdrive and distortion pedals.Mode III—Provides enhanced definition with intense modulation and drive settings, adding power and presence to arpeggio playing and solos.Deep Expressive ControlReal-time speed control is essential to the rotary experience, and the RT-2 includes many options to achieve it. The pedal switch offers four operation types with many clever ways to bypass the effect and change speeds as you play. You can also connect up to two external footswitches for independent speed control and access to a “brake” setting that stops the virtual rotors at their current positions for unique tones. Alternately, an expression pedal unlocks continuous control of level, drive, balance, and speed, complete with assignable settings for each parameter.Sample Rate: 48 kHzAD Conversion: 24 bits + AF method, AF method (Adaptive Focus method) This is a proprietary method from Roland & BOSS that vastly improves the signal-to-noise (SN) ratio of the AD and DA converters.DA Conversion: 32 bitsNominal Input Level: INPUT A (MONO), INPUT B: -20 dBuMaximum Input Level: INPUT A (MONO), INPUT B: +7 dBuInput Impedance: INPUT A (MONO), INPUT B: 1 MΩNominal Output Level: OUTPUT A (MONO), OUTPUT B: -20 dBuMaximum Output Level: OUTPUT A (MONO), OUTPUT B: +7 dBuOutput Impedance: OUTPUT A (MONO), OUTPUT B: 1 kΩRecommended Load Impedance: OUTPUT A (MONO), OUTPUT B: 10 kΩ or greaterBypass: Buffered bypassControls: SLOW knob, FAST knob, DRIVE knob, LEVEL knob,MODE switchPedal switchRISE/FALL TIME switchDRIVE KNOB switchIndicator: CHECK indicator (Used for indication of Tempo and check battery), VIRTUAL ROTORConnectors: INPUT A (MONO) jack, INPUT B jack, OUTPUT A (MONO) jack, OUTPUT B jack: 1/4-inch phone type, CTL/EXP jack: 1/4-inch TRS phone type, DC IN jackPower Supply: Alkaline battery (9 V, 6LR61 or 6LF22, commercially available), AC adaptor (PSA series: sold separately)Current Draw: 115 mAExpected battery life under continuous use (These figures will vary depending on the actual conditions of use.): Alkaline- Approx. 2.5 hoursDimensions: 73 (W) x 129 (D) x 59 (H) mm, 2-7/8 (W) x 5-1/8 (D) x 2-3/8 (H) inchesWeight (including battery): 450 g, 1 lbAccessories: Leaflet ("USING THE UNIT SAFELY," "IMPORTANT NOTES," and "Information"), Dry battery (9 V, 6LR61 or 6LF22)Options (sold separately): AC adaptor: PSA series, Footswitch: FS-5U, Dual footswitch: FS-6, FS-7, Expression pedal: FV-500H, FV-500L, EV-30, Roland EV-5
