With the Analog Heat +FX Elektron presents the third generation of the popular audio processor for live wrenches and sound designers. New in the AH +FX is the possibility to integrate and rearrange additional effects in the signal path, which makes the device interesting for a wider range of users. The signal path is consistently designed in stereo.
The heart is the analog heat block, which consists of distortion, filter and EQ. The order of the three analog processing options cannot be changed. The distortion block offers eight distortion circuits whose sound character ranges from subtle boost to wrecking ball. The resonant Multimode filter holds seven filter characteristics optimized for different sound ranges. The last heat element is the 2-band equalizer. Before and after the Heat block, up to seven additional digital effects can be inserted into the signal path at any point, allowing the effects chain to contain a total of eight elements. Compressor, Reverb, Delay, Chorus, Warble (Wow & Flutter), Bits (Bitcrusher) and Bass Focus (Bass Enhancer) are available for this purpose. Thanks to three LFOs, an Attack/Decay respectively Attack/Release envelope, an envelope follower and two Expression/CV inputs, you can literally bring the creative effect chains to life through modulation. Imagine the reverb fading in and out cyclically every four bars, while at the same time the envelope modulates the hi-band of the EQ and a control voltage from the modular system regulates the drive part of the distortion... and to be able to continuously work out new ideas Elektron has implemented 512 memory locations for own FX chains including all settings and modulations.
The inconspicuous USB connector turns the Analog Heat +FX into a high-quality 24-bit / 48kHz audio interface. This works in both directions so that the audio signal from the DAW gets a fresh coat of paint and signals to be recorded arrive "ready" in the DAW. naturally there is full overbridge compatibility. The MIDI trio allows among other things the synchronization of the LFOs with the master clock of a sequencer, optionally to Thru and Out can be eg. TB-303 and TR-808 can be connected via DIN Sync. This should save some users an additional sync interface. Two assignable control inputs for expression pedals or control voltages from a modular system offer further parameter control from outside. On the audio side, there are stereo inputs and outputs as well as a headphone jack.
