The EW-20 was designed to provide electronic woodwinds for school bands. It is simple and made with durable plastics.
Uses Saxophone or Recorder fingerings.
Modulation lever for vibrato or pitch bend is primitive hall effect sensor and better than nothing.
The synthesis engine uses the YM2414 (OPZ). The same chip as the TX81Z and Yamaha's other professional FM synths in the late 1980's.
All sounds are preset, but the sound design is very good.
Built in Reverb.
Midi in, out, and through. So you can connect your favorite keyboard to the sound module or use the Woodwind to play other synths. Or both.
The EW-20 was designed as an entry point into wind controllers and works well for it. It's a great creative tool.
