Roland JX305, fully functional, repaired.
The JX305 is sold with the following specifications:
- One of the knob covers is missing.
- I cleaned and repaired the broken traces on the right-hand front panel board (the work was done well; you only need to look at the difference between the before and the after): the previous owner must have punched the area where the jog dial is located, as that is where I found the damage—damage that I subsequently repaired using solder and an appropriate solder mask (just take a look at the "after" photos).
- There are a few marks on the casing.
- I cleaned the inside of the bottom panel.
- It comes with a generic power supply.
- A new green OLED display is already installed (this is an additional value-add)
The cosmetic condition is much better than it appears in the photos.
Unfortunately, I sometimes find that the instruments I receive aren't exactly in the condition described in the listing. Since I operate in a way that is diametrically opposed to how others do things, I want to specify exactly what work I did on this JX-305 and show what the situation was like beforehand.
I bought it a while ago and am now reselling it—obviously not because of the repair itself (anyone who thinks that would prove themselves to be, let's say, not exactly sharp), but simply because I’m not using it. I already own an MC-505 and need to make space, so I can do without this keyboard (though that doesn't mean I intend to give it away).
When I bought it, the seller claimed to have replaced all the switches (which was false). Upon receiving it, I discovered that numerous jumper wires had been installed on the right-hand front panel circuit board because a section of the board was broken.
The seller said he hadn't done the work himself and that, to him, "it was normal" (I’ll leave it to you to comment on that statement).
In my opinion, the seller was fully aware of the board's condition and was trying to pull a fast one on me.
In any case, I kept it because I needed it—and actually, I still do—but as I mentioned, I need to make space.
In short, I restored the board to full functionality by redoing the solder joints and applying a specialized resin.
Also, since there were signs of rust on the surface of the bottom panel, I cleaned it all off, even though it wasn't strictly necessary. Now it's smooth and clean.
The keyboard works perfectly. If I were a different kind of person, I probably wouldn't have even mentioned this; however, since I believe a buyer should know everything about the instrument they are purchasing, I decided to explain the situation openly.
Even though it has been repaired, that doesn't mean I have to sell it for a pittance.
You can see photos showing the jumper wires as they were before and how the unit looks now. The price is as shown, and I’ve also added a new OLED display (it’s green, but if you prefer, you can choose one with white or yellow characters).
*Please note that I generally no longer ship medium-to-large or heavy items outside of Europe. This is not due to any choice of my own, but rather because of the high customs duties that a buyer in the United States would incur (for instance, I have not shipped complete synthesizers—which I used to send without any issues—for several months now).
**Furthermore, please be aware that it is not possible to declare a lower value for an item during shipment—though it is acceptable to declare the cost of the item itself, excluding shipping costs. Declaring a lower value would make it impossible to obtain any compensation in the event of loss or damage (regardless of the extreme care I take in packaging).
***Shipping costs are not determined arbitrarily—they depend on the couriers—and in some cases, they are actually higher than the amount stated in the listing (which is why I sometimes end up paying additional costs myself, at no extra expense to the buyer).
****In any case, even for items that I do ship to the United States, Canada, or other destinations outside of Europe (where specified), the buyer is solely responsible for any customs clearance fees or other charges (as already stated in the "Payments and Returns" section).
