This is the original prototype of the clone of the famous classic drum synthesizer Coron DS8, that I designed and built in 2013

It is compatible with Eurorack.

Demo:

It has the following controls:

  • "Tune" (main frequency)
  • Sweep
  • Release
  • Gate sensitivity
  • LFO (frequency)
  • LFO Mod (amplitude)
  • Ext level (built-in VCA for external source)
  • Noise (wet/dry white noise mix) (not working at the moment)
  • and Volume for the mix

It has 4x 3.5mm jack connectors:

  • Gate
  • "Tune Mod" (CV input, not 1V/Octave)
  • Ext in (external audio source)
  • Output

The LEDs (LFO and envelope) aren't present in this version.

The 16HP front panel is made of black 2mm-thick rigid aluminium from FPE, with engraved markings.

Depth is 80mm.

The output might sound a bit weak, as on the original.

Power supply is done by 10-pin Eurorack connector. 15mA on +12V, around 5mA on -12V.

The circuit is a clone of the original model. Full circuit schematics and PCB drawings available on request.
