The Gibson 1962 ES-330 Reissue Vintage Burst is a faithful reproduction of what is arguably the most popular thinline hollow-body electric guitar, based on its 1962 specification. This instrument, crafted at the Gibson Custom Shop in Nashville, Tennessee, combines the resonant acoustic character of its unique construction with the slim contours of the ES-335 to create a remarkably versatile electric guitar. With its two hand-wired P-90 pickups in the neck and bridge positions, the instrument delivers a rich and varied tone, whilst the classic hardware is entirely in keeping with the specifications of the era. Naturally, the Gibson 1962 ES-330 Reissue Vintage Burst is supplied in a matching Gibson hardshell case and with a signed certificate of authenticity.
Thinline body made from maple and poplarIts distinctive tonal character is ensured by the basic construction, crafted according to a classic design, comprising a three-ply maple and poplar laminate. By omitting the centre block, as found in the ES-335, the top and back are free to vibrate unimpeded, allowing their unique acoustic timbre to unfold. The slim, 1960s-style Slim Taper ‘C’ neck profile, meanwhile, ensures a balanced playing feel. In addition, the Gibson ES-330 Reissue features a bound rosewood fingerboard, fitted with 22 frets in the historically accurate Reissue Medium Jumbo profile and featuring traditional block inlays.
Gibson P-90 pickups in the Dogear designAmong the classic essential features that no well-maintained Sixties ES-330 should be without are the two Gibson P-90 pickups. These single-coil pickups, with their distinctive ‘Dogear’ mounting tabs and wider coil windings, sit sonically between the warm, full-sounding humbucker and the clear, attack-definition of the single-coil, and are suitable for just about anything from articulate clean and crunch sounds right through to powerful rock set-ups. Both pickups are hand-wired and each has its own controls for volume and tone.
