The Sierra has been Deering's most popular professional banjo for over 30 years. They pride themselves on producing the Sierra as affordably as possible, and it still retains all the high-quality features that influence the sound and playability.

When Greg Deering introduced the Sierra, he kept costs low by keeping the appearance simple. Instead, the money was put into the pot assembly. He wanted to build a professional banjo at a price he could have afforded as a child. Consequently, the Sierra offers specifications that you would normally only find on a much more expensive banjo!

This 5-string Deering Sierra was built in August 1999, and the banjo is in excellent condition. There are signs of wear on the mahogany resonator, and the chrome hardware shows patina. Signs of wear can also be found on the frosted head, but the banjo looks remarkably clean for an instrument from the previous century!

This instrument has been carefully inspected for originality, condition and playability, then set up to our Gold Standard by a luthier. We make sure it arrives in your hands exactly as it should: sounding its best, playing effortlessly and ready to be enjoyed from the very first note.
