About this listing
The Akai Professional EWI USB is an electronic wind instrument and specialized MIDI controller designed for wind players looking to access digital synthesis. It acts as a class-compliant plug-and-play USB device that requires a direct connection to a Mac or PC to function, as it possesses no onboard speakers or independent audio outputs. Key Features & SensorsExpressive Mouthpiece: Features highly responsive air-pressure breath intensity and bite sensors to map realistic performance nuances like volume, dynamics, and pitch bending. Touch-Sensitive Keys: Includes 13 capacitive touch sensors instead of mechanical valves, enabling rapid note changes and articulation. Five-Octave Range: Uses a unique rear-mounted octave roller system featuring 2 mobile and 2 fixed touch sensors for swift pitch shifts across a wide register. Flexible Fingering Modes: Configurable layout maps directly onto standard saxophone, traditional EWI, flute, oboe, and EVI (Electronic Valve Instrument) brass fingerings. Software Bundle: Ships alongside custom Garritan Aria Player software, offering over 75 standalone wind, brass, orchestral, and synthesizer sounds. It can also control any external digital audio workstation (DAW) or standard virtual instrument library. ( Register with AKAI, available for download )
