CHICANE is a stereo static brickwall diode limiter. It can be used as a dynamic control effect or as a straight heavy distortion module. In any case, it will color everything you feed it.
CHICANE is an enhanced version of FAILLE TEMPORELLE’s output diode limiter, now in stereo and with two distinct modes.
BRICKWALL mode is great on mix bus, adding gain and overdrive to move from an unpredictable dynamic compressor feel, to a kind of lever effect, to a fully KRRRushing limiting distortion.
CLIPPER mode is the softer side, using a parallel saturation circuit for harmonic distortion and more control over your original signal. It works particularly well on instruments, for smooth overdrive coloration to heavy metal amps like BBRRRZZRR.
Low-tech static brickwall means the limiter reacts instantly with no attack or release time. The result is raw, immediate with zero forgiveness. From subtle mix-bus glue to brutal analog punishment, CHICANE brings attitude to any stereo chain.
DISCLAIMER:
CHICANE is not a true compressor or limiter, hence the “low tech” mention.
It is more of a coloring and distortion unit that likes low yet complex signals.
For better control, do not drive the input when bypassed, so you can get a better feel of the Brickwall and Clipper modes.
