This Dutch-built Imperial 4 immediately catches the eye with its ash body, finished in a stunning Shoreline Gold, complemented by a subtly flamed, roasted maple fingerboard!

After working for (inter)national artists such as Waylon, Henny Vrienten, Adrian Vandenberg, and The Scorpions, Robin Baard is now building his own bass guitars – and we are proud to showcase them!

Over the years, Robin Baard has developed from a renowned guitar technician into a highly sought-after instrument maker. His experience as a tech for top international acts has given him unique insight into what musicians truly need from their instruments. That knowledge now flows directly into his own handmade basses, where he prioritises the reliability and playability gained from years of working with professional musicians!

The Imperial 4 combines classic J-Bass DNA with modern refinements that make all the difference. Robin doesn’t use roasted maple just for its looks – the roasting process stabilises the wood and provides a slightly warmer, more matured tone compared to regular maple.

The Lollar J-Bass pickups deliver that familiar punchy attack and clear definition, while the 9.5" radius fingerboard and medium-thick neck profile offer modern playability that both fingerstyle and pick players will appreciate. A bass built by someone who knows exactly how an instrument needs to perform when it truly matter!
