K.Yairi SRF-OV2 Parlour Acoustic Vintage Black Burst 2021

K.Yairi SRF-OV2, black burst finish, made in Japan 2021. We love Yairi guitars, they're such beautiful instruments. They're still handmade to this day: a small team in Gifu in Japan's highlands still carves all the necks by hand, and they air dry and mill all their own timber on site. This model was a collab with major retailer Shimamura, so it got the cool black burst finish, offset dot inlays and the unusual ovangkol back and sides. It's a small body, similar to a Gibson LG or Martin 00 in shape, which is super comfy and lightweight in the hands. The neck is a soft-V shape, not super thin but neither thick, which feels great too. Ovangkol is a rosewood family timber from Africa, which lends this a hefty low end punch. It's remarkably loud for a small guitar, with a fast and punchy low end and a warm open treble. Like all Yairi stuff, there's a very pleasing balance across all the strings; it has a lovely dry clarity. This is a very enjoyable little guitar.

Cosmetic condition notes: minor finish wear. The headstock has a minor dent on the treble side. The is clean and smooth in the hands, minor rub wear on the back only. The back has minor rub wear in the elbow area only. The sides have very minor dimples in the elbow area. The front has minor play wear on the shoulders.
Overall: excellent condition (9/10)

Playing condition notes: Action is reasonably low, neck is straight, intonation is good. Wearing fresh 11/52 Moonshiners phosphor bronze strings.
Fret life: 9/10, minor wear only
