VEMURAM DJ1
The VEMURAM DJ1 is a bass overdrive pedal developed in collaboration with Darryl Jones, the Chicago-born bassist known for his work with Miles Davis, Sting, and currently The Rolling Stones. It took approximately six years to complete its development.
Based on the sound concept of the guitar overdrive pedal Jan Ray, the DJ1 was designed according to Darryl’s request to blend a boosted clean signal with a bass-tuned drive channel. This allows the pedal to deliver a solid, articulate overdrive without losing low-end, ensuring the bass remains clear and present in a band mix.
Some NOS (New Old Stock) components are used internally, and Darryl was very particular about the overall tone. Prototype versions had already been used on The Rolling Stones’ tours several years prior, and the design was refined repeatedly based on feedback from real-world stage use.
The pedal also offers substantial headroom, allowing it to be used effectively as a booster.
