In just a few years, Randy Rhoads revolutionised the art of rock “n” roll guitar playing by combining fluid, classically inspired legato passages and melodies with searing, violin-like leads and saturated riffs. One of the most important components of this captivating sound was the MXR Distortion+ – Randy used its raw energy to flood his high-gain amplifier with a deluge of overtones, creating a distinctive sound that would leave a lasting mark on music history.

We celebrate his monumental legacy with this replica of his own MXR Distortion+. For the first time in 42 years, the Rhoads family unveiled Randy's pedalboard to the MXR design team at the family's music school in Los Angeles – the Musonia School of Music. History was made there when the MXR design team carefully opened the pedalboard and meticulously inspected everything they could examine and document from this rock “n” roll artefact.

The engineers meticulously specified Randy's Vintage Distortion+ with the direct involvement of his sister Kathy Rhoads, creating this signature model to produce the same overdrive sounds heard on Randy's most popular hits.

Inspired by a supersonic aircraft he flew on tour with Ozzy Osbourne, Randy designed a Flying V-style guitar with white lacquer and pinstripe accents. This iconic instrument is the inspiration for this special edition MXR Randy Rhoads Distortion+. Includes an exclusive collector's booklet.
