From a collector's estate: a rare and very cool HOYER / Germany bass from the late 60s. Hoyer is one of Germany's best-kept secrets. The company started in 1874 and by 1948 was making a name as preeminent Jazz guitar builders in Germany. In the 1950’s most Hoyer guitars were semi-acoustics equipped with pickups. In the 1960’s, the company had started producing solid body guitars. When Arnold Hoyer passed away in 1967 his son Walter took over, concentrating mainly on the line of electric hollow and solid body guitars and classical instruments. Quality, design and beautiful wood remained hallmarks of Hoyer and the guitars they produced in the 1950’s through the 1960’s are works of art and craftsmanship. The bass is in excellent condition. Low action truss rod works fine. Awesome player. Top straight perfect intonation. No cracks repairs or issues. Only missing finger rest.
